Discussion Who do you think SS is for?

This question may be strange since the rules clearly explain the purpose of the site, but I'm curious to hear from you what you think: Who is SS for? and who should not use SS?

This forum is for everyone. People come here looking for answers. Perhaps they don't even know the answer or what they are looking by themselves.
The purpose of this forum is to help people in any way possible.

I think the community on this forum is one of the most friendly and most helpful I've ever seen in my life. We have so many good people on this forum.

I'm glad I found some answers I needed. It made me feel better and less stressed.

The way I see it, we all have the right to exit this world at a time of our own choosing, and we have no obligations to stay alive as we did not ask to exist. Nobody needs to justify their reasons for leaving, it is our life and our decision. Suicide is a personal choice. Nobody should be forced to live against their wishes. We all deserve the option to peacefully exit when the time is right for us, no one should have to resort to risky methods to end their pain.

I view SS as a repository of information to help people kill themselves. SS is for anyone who wants to kill themself, whether soon or in the future.

I think minors shouldn't be allowed on SS [which is thankfully the rule here] and anyone else should be allowed to access this site if they choose.

I think it's for those who need it. Whether they need information, somewhere to be heard, somewhere to find likeminded company, somewhere to pass the time, or anything else. There is a recovery forum (which I don't visit haha) and off topic so I think those who have experienced suicidal thoughts or tendencies or mental health issues in any form as well as even those who are curious and open minded to the subject fit well. The only limitations I think should be no minors and then I'd rather those who don't even attempt to emphasize or just wish to stir up trouble to find somewhere else for it.

@Judah how would you answer the questions you proposed?

The site just went down for me a bit ago and it made me think how many people want this site down and how sad it is.

I suppose it's aimed at anyone who has some sort of interest in suicide, for whatever reason. I don't know that there's anyone that shouldn't use it—but can see that someone not invested in some way would go nuts after reading for more than a couple of days…

Everyone should have a ctb plan imo so I think it is for everyone.

But I'm selfishly glad not everyone is willing or able to find it, as it'd probably vanish.
