  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I think there are many good answers.

I will take randomly one.

Good: defeated the Nazis; without their help the Nazis might would have won

Worst: Trump's policies fuels the climate catastrophe drastically

🤷‍♀️ Just some random ones off the top of my head…

The national parks (and some state parks like Valley of Fire)/natural monuments, (relative) freedom I mean you can buy guns and protest the president (for now), etc., unmatched innovation and creativity I mean Apple, Tesla, Space X, Walmart, Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Uber, Facebook, Google, Coca Cola, McDonalds uhhh like most big companies today, one thing I do like about American culture is the humor and that people are always making jokes — I guess you could say it doesn't take itself too seriously in some regard? It does have a supportive system for entrepreneurship.
NYC, LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas - arguably global cities
Its next to Canada and the Caribbean 😉
Classic muscle cars
Moon landing/manhattan project/Denny Regrades, etc. - this country can seriously come together and make some big breakthroughs on massive projects
Cinema 🎦 (take the good with the bad)
Founding Fathers (yes, I'm sure thats controversy but whatever idc)
Strength of American passport
Relative standard of living globally especially if you're wealthy or have money
Relatively safe (for now)
The rugged untamed nature of this place…
The diversity - look at NYC…
Etc.

Hmm… that's a toss up between the citizens, government and corporations.
Mmm… healthcare in America only works when you're healthy, public transportation (kind of city dependent but as a whole) sucks, modern American cars (higher-end teslas models are debatable and not sure about Rivian), CA's political scene and the left coast, government corruption
Idk there are plenty of things the US is not the best at.
Too many to list…

I've said this before but the best and worst thing about the United States of America is that it's perfect for people who love to complain. In the US, no matter who you are or what you stand for you will always ALWAYS find something to complain about. That's the bad thing but what makes that a good thing is that at least in America you technically have the right to complain about anything you want at least relatively compared to other countries with horrible conditions and other things to complain about. To me the US strikes that perfect balance between 1) having many things to complain about 2) not sending ppl to jail just for complaining, and 3) the unique factor of it being socially acceptable to complain about it all over the world. Other countries for example might not culturally allow for the citizens to publicly admit any problems that may be going on but not us. Even the most patriotic person in our country still has millions of things to complain about and I just think that's beautiful.

Best (for people living here):
  • We are rich as fuck (as a society, not necessarily as individuals)
  • You can have all the "stuff" you could possibly want here
  • Convenience is king here, 24/7 whatever you want (if you live in the right city anyway)
  • You can do life how you want as long as you can afford it
  • All the entertainment you could hope for
  • Upwards mobility (financially/socially) is probably better than just about anywhere else as long as you have a good starting point
Worst:
  • We all fucking hate each other right now
  • We are super materialistic
  • We are fat, unhealthy, lonely, and isolated
  • We have a terrifying trend towards growing inequality
  • Evangelicalism and Christian Nationalism are on the rise
  • Healthcare here is abysmal unless you have the money and if you do insurance is still a PIA
  • We are so individualistic that everyone is out for themselves and most people don't care about each other
  • We are an extremely violent society compared to almost any other developed country
  • Education has been shit in this country for a long time now and it shows

As an outsider with no real right to comment on your country;

Pro. Pamela Anderson & Southpark.
Con. Your Health system seems almost as poor as ours in the UK and you have to pay for it at source.

On a more serious note ... I don't believe any other country in the world has your national, "Can Do" attitude.
