  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Was just wondering what the religious/philosophical views of the majority on this site are. If I had to guess probably Atheism/Agnosticism/Deism since suicide is taboo in most religions, but hey, maybe I'll be surprised here. I myself am hardline Atheist (lacks belief in any/all gods/outright rejects the idea of a personal god/rejects the idea of an afterlife).

Wouldn't have it any other way to be honest. Thank god there is no god (pun intended). I hate the thought of an afterlife. Let alone an afterlife that involves worshipping a celestial dictator for all of eternity.

I'm betweemn atheism, agnosticism and deism.

There is no proof that God exists. if it does exist, it will be in a 4th, 5th (or 6th, etc) dimmension, in an alternate plane of existence or something like that. in any case, it is beyond our possibilities to prove it, and even less to have conversations with him.

and if he wanted to have real contact with us, he would have already done so in an irrefutable way, which makes me distrust the veracity of religions

To summarize, we do not know if God exists and if he does, we have not had contact with him.

so the best thing is to act as if we were alone and we'll see what happens if we find it

I'm agnostic. Some people have thought that meant I haven't figured out which religion I'd like to choose, so they try to tell me about theirs. I'm not religion shopping. I'm not on the fence.

I have Jewish, Catholic, Mormon, C of E (Anglican?), Anabaptist ( Mennonite / Amish), pagan, spiritualist, various other types of Christian, atheist, agnostic, etc, ancestry. I'm not signing up to a religion and not interested in signing up to a religion. One of few bonuses about the pandemic is that the JWs stopped turning up.

Wish I'd see man this sooner. I'm Jewish. Looking at the poll I feel I should mention that Judaism is a religion of action, or behavior, not belief. You can be a Jew and atheist, or agnostic. You can also be Jewish and Buddhist.
Anyway, as I said, I'm Jewish, and I love studying Torah, but I don't believe that God is involved in our lives, or is paying any attention to what happens here on Earth.

You would think believing in a religious myth would be what should be taboo.

I wish I was Religious. But I simply cannot reconcile a loving God with the shithole that is life (And, yes, I know about Original Sin, but I just can't.) Also the bible claims people lived for like 300 years. I can't bring myself to believe in that, or Eternal Life, et al.

Here are some scattered thoughts I have on religion.

I have been an atheist since the age of 11.

The way religious people speak is eerily similar to the way someone in active psychosis speaks.

As a teenager I had an experience with scrupulosity after attending a funeral for someone I knew as a child.

I agree with Nietzsche's utilitarian (for lack of a better term) view of religion.

I lean toward Satanism, specifically the modern, non-theistic kind, and I see a lot of overlap with anarcho-socialism. Both reject arbitrary authority, whether it's religious, political, or economic, and both value self-determination and challenging oppressive systems. Satanism is about rejecting submission to dogmatic institutions, while anarcho-socialism pushes back against the hierarchies of capitalism and the state. Together, they form a worldview centered on liberation, liberation of the self and liberation of society.

To me, it's about carving your own path while recognizing that true freedom also comes from solidarity and mutual aid. It's not enough to reject authority on a personal level; you also have to actively dismantle systems that exploit and oppress. Satanism's focus on rebellion and self-empowerment aligns perfectly with the anarcho-socialist belief in collective action and the fight for a more equitable world.

Agnostic Theist, but if I had to choose a religion at gunpoint it would be Christianity

I was raised Roman Catholic, but am currently practicing Soto Zen Buddhism. I don't consider myself a Buddhist, though, I just feel it gives some relief.

I'd probably consider myself agnostic. The catholic thing does still seep through when I am considering/planning an attempt, as it is a mortal sin. I have been trying to find a way to exit in a way that could be considered an accident, but I haven't found one that doesn't involve other people.
