It didn't live up to my expectations the first time I saw it, but I really enjoyed it on the second go!

Maybe I should rewatch it and see if it changes my mind? I need to rewatch the last exorcism too because everyone loves that movie and I thought it was soooo boring I guess I know what I'm watching tonight lol
YES. Have you seen the Japanese paranormal activity movie? It's called paranormal activity: tokyo night or something like that. Omg it was so scary, I genuinely couldn't look at the screen at one part.

Maybe! - sandwich it between two yet to be seen ones!
Little Otik is great , kind of horror , unique !
Hellraiser- The first two movies of the series
I love Pinhead & the Cenobites.
Or a really old one that's creepy as hell is a movie called Carnival of Souls. I can't watch that one when I'm by myself because it freaks me out.
I also don't like any movie that has a doll in it that comes to life. One of my most hated episodes of the Twilight Zone is the one starring Telly Savalas with the Talky Tina doll.

If you prefer the spooky over the gory type then i think you gonna enjoy these:
- The Exorcist (1973) (a classic masterpiece)
- The Amityville Horror (1979)
- The Entity (1982)
- The Haunting in Connecticut
- The Autopsy of Jane Doe
- Sinister 1
And if you like found footage type, the following are good, for me they are underrated:
- Grave Encounters 1 & 2
- The Possession of Michael King

The Machinist a horror movie? I guess in a way. I'd call it more of a psychological thriller. It doesn't belong in the same genre as Saw at all. Psychological thrillers are my favourite kinds of movies. I could list a lot more of its type but I won't since this is supposed to be about horror. I like some horror but it depends what kind. I might like it more if there wasn't already so much in the real world. "You won't be able to sleep for weeks" what's good about that?

Some of the most horrific films I've seen weren't even technically horror movies. Eastern Promises springs to mind. I used to like Cronenberg but that film left me with a bad impression of him. Maybe it was just because it wasn't sci fi and was set in the uk so it was a lot closer to home but it felt like I wasn't sure what he was trying to say or who this was aimed at and when that happens it can retroactively damage everything they did before. Had I misunderstood all those classics? I find extreme violence less horrific if it's supposed to be horrific. When it shows the devastating impact and isn't just cheap titillation. Or I think it has to be so surreal that it just doesn't resemble anything about real life. People can find this more disturbing but not me. I find it fucked up for the right reasons
I used to have Netflix, but I canceled my subscription over a year ago. I still have lots of DVDs and a player that actually works, for now. I also have Hulu and PlayStation Vue. oh, and Amazon prime. I watch a lot of different things through Amazon prime. They seem to have a lot of good documentaries.
I hate Bezos, but having agoraphobia means I use a lot of services to deliver items to my house so that I don't have to go out and get them. Sometimes I even have my groceries delivered to me, even though the store is literally five minutes down the street from my house. Sometimes I just can't face going out there though. I did manage to actually go out yesterday for the first time in about two months.
I also have a Roku, so I'm constantly looking at all the new channels to see what new viewing possibilities are available. Every month they seem to add a bunch of new stuff. It's certainly a lot cheaper than cable was.

I just saw The Lighthouse (2019) earlier this week, which is getting a lot of hype from cinema nerds, for good reason tbh. Same director as The VVitch so although I wouldn't call it explicitly horror as it is a super tense drama w/ supernatural elements, it is a really well-done movie with a big time sense of dread looming over it the whole time.
I've actually bee working through a list of horror movies, I typically like the ones that are more slow burns tho. Noroi: The Curse (2005) is super fucking great even though its length and winding narrative might be a bit much, I generally think it's one of the most unforgettable things I've seen. I also can't recommend The Wailing (2016) enough.
