it's a dot gov site, which to my understanding can only be owned by official government organizations, right?
here's the link:

it's a very long study/article , but press CTRL + F, so it brings up the search bar.
then type in 83.6.
it will bring you to where it mentions that 86.6% of all hangings are only partial.

they have all sort of relevant information on that site, about hanging

Partial is mostly painless but your si can kick in. Full suspension is very painful but theres no way to save yourself. You decide.

i think i could overcome my survival instinct.
but i read something about someone saying their blood vessels in their eyes popped or something like that,
and someone replied to her that it was probably because she put force on the juggular and not the carotid arteries.

once again, english isn't my first language... what exactly does juggular mean in this context?
does it basically just mean "the middle" of the neck?

that's terrifying if you can get eye damage from it

The jugular veins are located in your neck and are the paths for blood to exit the head back into the body/heart. Compressing them causes blood pressure build up in the head, including the eyes.

so how exactly does one avoid compressing them?

You really can not do this because the jugulars are closer to the surface of your skin than the carotids. The idea is to close off BOTH the carotids and jugular at the same time. That way no blood can leave, but also no fresh blood is coming in to get everything backed up. It is very tricky to do. Many people back out of an attempt because of a very large headache.

Shout out to the science papers for providing some nice info. Only 27% of people had alcohol in their system, a number I thought would be significantly larger. Big shout out to the two dudes that hung themselves with a vine and a hanger. People can get very creative when determined to die.

you need to apply pressure quick enough to pass out before you feel anything from the jugulars. If you slowly apply pressure the jugulars will slowly get blocked and eventually cause a lot of pain. The key is falling unconscious before you feel anything.
