Help TSA question

I was thinking is it a smart idea or is it possible to pull off to sneak a gun in my suitcase? Does tsa check suitcases before putting them on the airplane? Could I wrap a gun or the package in clothing in my suitcase?

Tsa still checks luggage that is put under planes but you don't have to sneak it on, you can always just file for a permit to bring a gun on board.
