Somehow I ended up snapping one of the supporting bars attached to my bicycle repair stands legs, I didn't notice this and went ahead with it all, having previously verified it held my weight securely.

This ended up making the stand lean slightly and caused me to be able to get up out of the partial hang. I felt quite close to losing consciousness so this has really bummed me out, my neck is bruised from the chain I was using as a noose & it takes a lot of energy to go through with an attempt. I remember lying on my bed after, questioning why I am not dead.

Some takeaways are: A chain can work as a good noose however a rope or belt is likely superior & will cause less discomfort. Ketamine + loud earbuds are a great way to overcome SI, mix in alcohol and it was not too difficult to let go.

I tried a belt and it didn't provide enough depth(dig) but left me with marks. Belt is better as a tourniquet like Robin Williams did.

Thank you for sharing your experience. To me, hanging sounds like such a difficult method, and I have never personally attempted because of the fear of failure. I envy those who are gone from this world. I wish you the best in whatever happens.

If if something holds your weight once you start moving there is torque, so you need someting that holds several times your weight in order to not break.
