  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

A) have you ever had trauma therapy and did it help in the slightest? Please tell me your experiences

My psychologist is 100% sure that if I go through trauma therapy that my depression will be cured and that I won't fall back in this deep hole as easily as I do now.

Honestly I don't agree. There's no magical solution for me.

Am I still haunted by the past? Yes.
Is that really the root of why I want to end it ?
I don't think so.

There are many therapies and techniques for countering trauma, but all would require some trial-and-errors even risks of relapses. It could be your therapist is too eager and desperate to cure u so that he/she might be hasty generalizing as i believe there's no such general "trauma therapy" guaranteed to cure all and any trauma. it could be worth a try tho, if u decide it's too early to get pessimistic about your therapist.
i admire how you're still reaching out for help, mate. wish u the best of luck

Emdr is probably what she wants me to do but right now she is too worried about me offing myself so it's off the table until I feel mentally more stable to try it.

I think they depend on the person and the symptoms your experience from trauma. I have made big movement in terms of triggers and dissociation with therapy. Im not sure exactly what you're experiencing outside of your SI, but as I rolled back layers of dissociation I became increasingly suicidal for some time so I would definitely tread lightly and be very open with your treatment team while trying your new therapies.

I am in therapy right now, she is specialised in emdr, but sadly she thinks this technique would destabilise me (I have cptsd).

Generally in my opinion emdr can help a lot especially with trauma. If you have a chance to try it, I would

In my case I also think I have a trauma, but I can't recall the feelings when I bring them to my mind

100% agreed. Could be unprofessional to guarantee a subjective result.

I can see how EMDR can be destabilizing. I'm in EMDR right now (had a session today) and it has uncovered memories that I blocked out of my memory. It's useful to get to the root cause of things, but you have to be really resilient at times.

I have DID. Dissociative identity order. There is no solution. Having said that idk if there is a way to make me more human. I have been called a machine, because one of my personalities is a fictive machine. Indeed I have had problems with psych services, because my suicidal ideations don't come in cycles. Once we flip that switch its flipped. Indeed they tested us by giving us our 3rd bottle of methadone, and thats how we arrived at our first death. As a test from the powers that belive that labled us as fakers. I drank all three bottles, and had to be revived. It was then that they had to rethink themselves, and eventually apologize after my second DID diagnosis. I had blocked out, and didnt even remember my first diagnosis 15 years earlier at the time.
