HARRISBURG (TNS) — Shawn's Law, legislation that would strengthen the penalties against those convicted of aiding or encouraging a suicide, is headed to the desk of Gov. Tom Wolf.

It is inspired by the parents of a Newberry Township woman who died by suicide in 2019.

The bill is named in memory of Shawn Shatto, who was suffering from depression when she took her own life after receiving step-by-step guidance on how to die by poisoning herself from an online chat forum.
continued at link below....

Those who aid or encourage suicide would face stiffer penalties in Pa. -

etc., etc. Another day, another set of hypocrites. I'm not even sure what the hell this is supposed to accomplish or how it would be applicable to anyone outside of Pennsylvania. But here we are. And even the normies quoted in the article were wondering what the hell would be classed as "encouraging" suicide.

it makes me angry they used the name of the person to name a law that i'm sure that person wouldn't have angreed with.

I wouldn't worry about it. That was a Mrs. Shatto's/Bieber's futile attempt at "taking SS down."

And a politician's attempt to pretend they care about a constituent to solidify a vote. The politician knows this is a fairly limiting law; nearly useless for what Shatto / Bieber was attempting to do.

its again this "we wont help but we also wont let you die".

ahh - one more reason to ctb.

i got fucked up and i will not recover from it.

and tbh i also dont want it.

i mean encouraging is of course a crime and should be punished.

but if its my own fucking choice then let me go.

Something that these people don't ever consider or want to:

Two people make a pact. One person survives, now they're legally liable for the death of the other person. Or one person changes their mind now they're afraid of the legal ramifications.

Both scenarios just makes it more likely that the other person will kill themselves.

How many suicides did Gov Wolf encourage with his draconian lockdowns during 2020? (Let alone the nursing home deaths under his watch when the sec of health put covid patients in nursing homes...)

"She hated life so much she wanted to die. If it hadn't been for that terrible chat room telling her how to make a successful bid to end her life, she'd still be here among us, hating life and wanting to die. And also probably paralyzed or horribly maimed in some way. That would be so beautiful."

I really loathe these people. If they had a speck of decency, they'd be out there working to make others' lives worth living, not pulling this stupid shit. What Jesus said: feed the hungry. Heal the sick. Comfort the afflicted. Catfish strangers on the internet and then send armed cops to go beat on their mother's door at 2 am. All that stuff.

We don't want you to offer you support or community, but we don't want you to die either. We just want you to suffer in the endless purgatory where we throw the rest of unproductive meatsacks! What a fucking joke. We can't possibly build a serious support system for you because that would cost money, so we'll use punitive legislation to suck money out of anyone who shows you compassion! Now run along, you crazy little burden to society.

Once again (and this will continue until people can face their inadequacies), the parents of this woman feel overwhelming guilt because (1) they had no clue she was suicidal; (2) they knew and figured she could take care of herself; or (30 who the hell knows. What it boils down to is the guilt they're feeling over the death of their daughter is so overwhelming they decided to dump it on the "site" that told her how to kill herself. REALLY???????? That's all this is - parents who feel guilty over not doing anything or supposedly not doing enough. What people need to understand is that people who take their own lives are in such pain that suicide is their only relief. Now take the money from the state and help these people - don't punish the rest of us.

The truth is that they will not leave us alone, so the best we can do is make ourselves heard, defend our right to die and to express ourselves freely.

Is that so? Well no problem, that will just want me to CTB as well. There's no way they are going to send a corpse to prison Haha. What an impractical law.
