I think it's natural to want to be remembered after we're gone as it's as close to immortality that we can get. However, the vast majority of us will be forgotten in just a few generations and even descendants will only know our names, but won't really know us. Whether were remembered or not, once we leave this mortal coil, we won't know, anyway. Legendary musician Frank Zappa once said, "I don't give a fuck if they remember me or not." An interesting quote from a man with an I.Q. of 160. I think it's more important to be remembered while we're here. Being remembered after we're gone may benefit those we leave behind but won't benefit us, at all.
