Wondering about the viability of this as a method, as it's always been in the back of my mind. I love to Jerry rig.
If I rented a car (dont have one) and got some stuff from home depot, an exhaust pipe and some cardboard. I wondered if one could tape the exhaust pipe to the cars exhaust, and tape it to one of the windows, sealing it with cardboard and hot glue (or caulk possibly) and parked the sucker someplace in the middle of nowhere at night, let her hum and step on the gas every once in a while... would it work?
If not what would be the biggest hangups? Problem solving isnt something I'm opposed to at all, honestly if anything building this plan is the best therapy I've ever had.
The smell doesnt bother me at all, and I've got plenty of antiemetics.

No this won't work. All of the newer cars have catalytic converters. There wouldn't be enough build up of CO2 to kill you. You would need an antique car at least 25-30 years old.
