I was reflecting on how damn difficult suicide is in western countries. Trains ride slow, we have no access to high buildings, guns are banned, chemicals are restricted, etc.

It's madness and explains why hanging is the most popular way of cbt. They want us to live and suffer as much as possible. Sigh...

Trains ride slow
Not where I live they have a top speed of 180km/h

But with the rest I agree everything is so restricted it´s beyond insanity, also depending on which country you live in there are no tall buildings or high places to jump from at least not in my country it´s not like the US with skyscrapers or just tall buildings, the tallest building I could get to is a 10 story hospital but all the windows have locks on them to prevent suicide jump.

It´s always good to know despite governments totalitarianism they can´t never get 100% control what are they going to do ban ropes? Then people can use scarfs, or even a sheet to hang themselves. But yes hanging is certainly not the easiest way out in terms of SI what I can tell from this forum not speaking from experience but in terms of effectiveness full suspension hanging is full proof if the rope is strong enough there is no going back, probably a horrible way to die if the jugular vein gets compressed and you choke while still conscious as apposed to if you were so lucky the rope would block the carotid arteries which would mean you´d go unconscious in seconds and not choke for at long.

It's the same in eastern countries. It's not about east or west, it's about the country's culture per se.

Yeah the whole world is pretty anti suicide. It's arguably *easier* in the "western countries" if you consider USA and it's gun laws in effect. I can tell you from experience for example in Latin America, europe and asia it is just as difficult.

Is that true in Japan even, with their cultural traditions? The nation which gave us the kamikazes? Or the Islamic countries where suicide attacks are supposed to be rewarded in the afterlife? (Obviously it's expected to be different in Christian nations, particularly the predominantly Catholic ones.)

you know what they say, dead people can't pay taxes. it's an incredibly strange world we live in; we need to suffer so governments can survive but they act like they're doing us a favor. weird shit.

That's basically what it boils down to... Suicide is expensive as far as governments are concerned.

Do some wild plant harvesting. Go pick and eat some hemlock roots. (Reportedly, they taste like parsnips, and one is supposed to be able to kill a cow.) In other words, government has no potential whatever for making suicide impossible. (Do not forget that the right to die organization created by the author of Final Exit was THE HEMLOCK SOCIETY! If hemlock was good enough for Socrates, it's good enough for us!)...:
