  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Clearly suicide by slitting my wrists open is a no-go, so i've been thinking, what about suicide by a chainsaw?

Funny enough an old video of a mosquito getting drunk off vodka and hitting its head/passing away inspired this idea. I'm thinking about getting drunk enough to trip and fall—land my neck onto a running chainsaw. If not that one then maybe the decapitation method that involves me tying myself to a tree + running car.

Any concerns or advice would be greatly appreciated.

the chainsaw method is highly unadvisable to say the least. It seems very hard to trip and fall and land exactly on the neck while heavily inebriated, and if it goes wrong...

I grew up in an area where the main industries were logging and fishing. I've known men that died or were seriously injured by a chainsaw. It is not pretty. A chain rips and tears it's way through flesh. Unless you hit a main artery you will be in serious pain for a long time and could even lose a limb. Getting drunk to commit suicide increases the chance you fuck up and just end up disfigured and or handicapped.

The decapitation method had a better chance of being successful.

Honestly the chainsaw would snag and instead of killing you it would probably just leave you horribly maimed. I feel like I've come off as anti-suicide lately but I just want to make a quick note here that it's more that most people don't see the issues with their attempts.

Like the most realistic thing is when people commit suicide by shotgun, and that is almost always successful however, that's if you did it to your face. My dad actually survived shooting himself in the chest, but I don't know if it was a shotgun or a rifle I just know it tore his insides up.

I don't know anything about chainsaws, but I've heard that power tools such as table saws, now have safety features that detect when they're in contact with flesh and turn off.

As pointed out above, chainsaws tear, not cut, and they buck and rear around if unsecured. If firmly held down and you land on it it won't just neatly and efficiently slice through your neck. It'll drag and throw you around whilst ripping and tearing through whatever bits of you collide with it.
Sorry, I'd dismiss this one as unlikely to work well.

Was coming to say this. The machine itself, as said above, jumps about if unsecured. This presents a pretty major issue aside from the fact, that indeed, they tear, not cut. I also think it best to dismiss this idea and consult the Resource Compilation and the Megathreads. Meant with care, no disrespect <3 xx

I have read about the odd attempt I believe. I think one person had a whole rig setup. Really though- horrific I imagine if it fails. Plus, horrific for the people who have to discover it and clear up.

In a moment of absolute desperation once, I contemplated power tools but, it's just hugely distressing. Not necessarily quick I imagine too. Plus, I would think the pain would be awful. It's not like you can really knock yourself out with drugs either. You'd presumably need to be alert to do it. Not something I think I have the guts for.

The only confirmed instance of a suicide by chainsaw I can find online was by an engineer who devised a very complex system. Even then doesn't sound too pretty.

Would not recommend.

This actually depends on the brand. I bought a table saw a year ago brand new that will take my arm off if I let it ✌️😁
