Spending new years alone

Anyone else spending New Year's Eve alone? I have to work New Year's Eve but I get off a few hours before midnight. I don't have any plans though. I am going through a breakup with the only person I ever hung out with, and don't have any friends to ask to spend time with me. Just going to stay home and watch movies or something. Anyone else kind of bummed out about new years? I don't usually have the FOMO but for some reason I'm feeling it pretty hard right now. I miss making memories with people and enjoying life. Now I'm just miserable most of the time. I don't blame people for not wanting to make plans with me.

I had so many plans with my best friend this year and wanted to spend Halloween and New Year's Eve together.

Now we're going our separate ways and I'm sitting here alone, rotting away. It's destroying me.

i hate holidays, but hate hot weather, despite summer.

i was horribly violently sexually assaulted in December. it's never a good month for me,

all the months are terrible now, but january can be ok. march and april aren't so bad. may through september are hell, fuck october. november annoys the fuck out of me.

I'm also going to spend New Years eve alone. I woke up at 2:00 pm so things are already off to a bad start, but I'm trying to salvage the day. I think I'll go buy a 6-pack for this evening, and take my dog to the river. In my heart I know I should stay away from alcohol as after 4 drinks I unravel a bit and do unsafe things, but like you I'm feeling FOMO and I always used to drink with friends/family at New Year's party's. Hopefully things won't be that bad for both of us, and we can settle in and be content with a movie or something

I read a statistic somewhere that most people stay home and don't do anything at all for new years, and many are alone. We're supposed to think everyone is out there having fun with friends and family. The reality is much different. And perfectly fine with me.

From thanksgiving to new years is the roughest time of year for sure. Feeling alone and despondent gets amplified. bombarded with the deafening commercialism of it all.

But here we are in 2026.
