Help SN test result interpretation. I think what I got wasn't SN.

I used the aquarium nitrite test with 4 ml water and a couple of small rocks of SN, and the solution came out beige instead of purple like the color chart indicates. What does this mean? Is my SN legit or crap? I'm thinking my SN is crap because the coloration has to be purple not beige or brown, which is what nitrate shows.



Also, I taste tested quite a few granules of SN and was feeling a little sick. Could this just be my mind playing tricks on me?

Damn, might be, I'm no expert but you could probably test it with the blood test, just in case your aquarium test kit might be faulty

Hmmmm... Tried the blood test? Get a small sample of sn and drop a small amount of blood on it. If it turns your blood from red to chocolate in a few seconds, then it is legit.

No this was a reagent based test, not strip based.

That doesn't matter, it's the same process for mixing the SN with water.

If you just mix a random amount of water with a random amount of SN it's not gonna work.

Can you link the aquarium test you're using?
