This is really important. Is SN a flammable substance and can it be seen in a checked in luggage? I asked and they said it could be ok but they can not verify. Can airport scanners detect powder substances? Please help.

NaNO2 is not flammable "under typical fire conditions, including intrinsically noncombustible materials such as concrete, stone, and sand". This purely an estimate from how the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) scales their tests.
