Is anyone here spiritual in a way they like to practice shifting? I personally never really got into the whole thing, even when it was trendy. I don't know if its just me being completely desperate for a way to just escape my life painlessly but I've considered giving it a try recently. Like, I have heard of people "permashifting" into different realities. Imagine being able to just leave this hellhole behind and starting new in a world of your dreams.

I'd say it could be similar to suicide in the way that you can abandon your conscious suffering permanently in exchange for a paradise of choice. However I don't completely understand the concept. It sounds very alluring to me. Like, being able to pretty much "die" and pick your afterlife?

If there are shifters here could you share your experience with trying to use it as a forever escape? And for other people, I would love to hear your general thoughts about the topic too.

The shifting that was trending was a more complicated way of lucid dreaming. Maybe I'm biased, since I don't believe in that sort of thing, but all the tips and tricks were ways to lucid dream, which is a nice escape from reality but is in no way permanent, no matter what you do. There is, as of now, no scientific proof of reality shifting existing in any way. It's widely agreed to be lucid dreaming or self-hypnosis, vivid images created by your imagination or extreme dissociation.
There's no evidence backing up the existence of "permashifting" either and some actually suggest that attempting to do such can cause you to lose touch with your actual reality.

I think if I was able to escape to a different, better world where I was happy, only to be thrust back into real life, it would push me over the edge. I already get sick when I realize my daydreams are just that, an ideal world that can never exist. But maybe it works for some folks.

This seems interesting. I have heard something about quantum Hypnosis and some people claim to have done such thing while in hypnotic state. The vessel or our body is too precious apparently for souls.

I know it's unrealistic, but I desperately want to shift it to a better reality when I die. However, I have to ask myself, If I have the ability to chose my reality, why in the actual fuck would I have chosen this one? There's always delusional hope though...

I don't know about shifting, but I've looked into tuplas or mental entities as a way to derealize, similar to DID. The only concern is that a lot of people that engage with forming multiple trains of thought and detaching from their head don't believe they should be used to escape reality, but rather to have a companion, and I agree to an extent as much as I would like to detach from reality at times. But in my experience, it's a very difficult process and you need a lot of persistence for it.

I've never been able to get into things like shifting or lucid dreaming. I have aphantasia, so I can't actually visualize things in my head or dream in a way where I see anything. The whole idea of imagining another world or "going" somewhere mentally is a completely foreign concept to me.

But I understand the appeal of wanting a way to leave your life behind without pain.

For me though, it's just another reminder that my mind doesn't really work that way. I couldn't escape into it even if I wanted to.
