I used to self harm a lot when I was like 13-16, and now I have been left covered in scar tissue on my arms. I regret it massively, my girlfriend says she does not care and is proud, doesn't mind being seen with my with my arms out but I still feel embarrassed as a man to be honest.
I hate how now if I meet someone I feel like it needs to be apparent that I have these scars as to not make it awkward down the road when we have a better relationship, for example with my new job, nobody knows, so when it comes to summer, I'll need to just stay long sleeve as to save myself the embarrassment and awkward looks.
Worst part is I still sometimes do it.
