the streamer that hanged herself on live after some boring chinese twitch streamer drama. her death looked so fucking violent and prolonged. EMTs allegedly say it was due to improper noose tying but the video doesn't show her tying it. cant believe a rope can be tied so badly that it turns a 10 second blackout to almost 2 minutes of agony, jerking and clenching your fists in pain before turning to reflexive jerking. id think it was pretty straightforward, it's a circle of material around the neck, and the carotid arteries are so superficial in the throat. she was also thin so maybe the lack of body weight made it harder as well?

When I tried, I couldn't find those arteries, the rope just pushed my throat, suffocating me. My neck cracked and I became afraid that maybe I'll fail and make myself paralyzed + brain damaged instead of exiting, and I backed out.

I feel like it's very different for everyone. I've watched many videos and I've seen people jerking, people bleeding through their nose, people losing consciousness very fast, others struggling for more than 5 minutes
Idk I personally can't lose consciousness that fast with hanging. Like that choking game thing does nothing in my case. But I also have dysautonomia

This is something that people usually get wrong when they look at videos like this. Yes, it looked violent. But do you know how she actually felt? You associate jerking and fist clenching with pain, but you don't know how being in that situation actually feels.
The jerking and fist clenching is normal, even if the person is completely unconscious. It will happen regardless. These are called the 'convulsive' stage, and the decerebrate and decorticate rigidity stages. During these stages, the body will jerk around, and muscles will flex involuntarily while the person is completely unaware any of it at all. Fists will be clenched too, but this is not a conscious action. The arms may be bent upwards – this is also involuntary, and not something the person does consciously. Further reading:
In this video, she might have had some faint awareness. However, she clearly didn't have the strength and coordination to grab onto anything or to step back on her plastic stool. If someone is not in control of their body, they probably don't feel much pain either. The fist clenching and the jerking is not an indication of pain but a sign that the nervous system and parts of the brain don't function anymore.
You can try passing out safely, by holding the other end of the rope in your hand. If you do this, you'll notice that by the time you start losing muscle strength, you're not aware of the pain anymore. You might feel pain before that, or after you've regained consciousness, but when you're actually close to blacking out, you don't really feel anything – if you have any awareness at all, it's just vague sensations or dreams. At least, this is how it works when I try it. Despite the violent thrashing around, this is probably what she felt as well. I doubt she was in pain.
Compare what you see in this hanging video to videos of using SN, for example. In videos where people take SN, the body is not thrashing around. They just drool, moan, try to sit up, or stagger around. While this looks less scary, do you think it actually feels better and less painful/unpleasant? Looking at these videos is all about perceptions and what you try to believe. You don't actually know how the person feels. Looks are deceiving.
If my own hanging attempt works as well as the one in the video, I'm happy. As far as I'm concerned, this attempt was successful and she didn't suffer. Every hanging suicide works out slightly differently, but this was more or less a typical case from what I can tell.
