Question about carotid artery

Hi my friends, i ask you forgive my ignorance, but in partial suspension, must you block both carotid arteries? Or just the left? Because for some reason i get the impression you only need to block one. But I've blocked both and it worked, so glad of that really, i can always get out of this place.
