Help Partial hanging

I contemplated SN as my method, however due to the complications of shipping and being able to trust the product I recieve, I think that partial hanging would be my best solution. I would like some information however, the best material for the rope, width, length, etc. I plan to tie a clove hitch to a tree, and a use a standard slipknot. Any further advice is welcomed, as these are currently my only prerequisites, just a rope and a tree.
