Hi, please refer to the Photo for reference. I have the nitrogen cylinder and gas transfer hose/connections and a OTS Spectrum SCUBA Full Face Mask. However I am finding the thought of dying with a full face mask claustrophobic. I am wanting to try those smaller medical mouth/nose masks shown in the second picture and make it seal well by taping the exhaust open areas (exhales or air build up would leak from the silicone skirt) with a thin hose flowing from the mask to the 2nd stage scuba regulator mouthpiece which I will DIY attach myself or I can just hook it up to the flow meter with a hose attached to the nitrogen cylinder itself. I am planning on dying in my car in a very far away place. I will turn on the AC to the coldest (I like the cold, makes me feel cozy and sleepy), wear a nice warm jacket, watch a nice movie on my iPhone mounted on a magnet with rain sounds playing via Bluetooth on the other phone, eat ice cream, take sleeping pills, fall asleep and die in my car seat. I'll place the gas bottle firmly and restrain myself with my seat belt and bungee retainers so my hands can't rip the mask off while unconscious. I'm scared of the autopsy hence why I keep delaying this or until I can find a far away place in the bushes to setup my resting place. Otherwise can I go through Assisted Suicide in Switzerland for depression due to self harm scars? In Australia I am not eligible.
I found this online. I think it will work excellently. https://www.cpaponline.com.au/products/resmed-airfit-f20-full-face-mask

A second thread that refers people to this thread was created... but I'm bumping it anyway.

Are those designed to be airtight?

Yes, they use a silicone frame to make an air tight seal when tightened properly. The problem is the exhaust valve is just holes in the mask. So ambient air can leak in if the internal flow rate isn't high. I'm just worried after passing out and running out of nitrogen after 20 minutes I might start breathing again the ambient air from the holes and wake up with severe brain damage. I hope I'm dead before the 20 minutes. I already bought this, waiting for it to arrive, if it doesn't work. I'll just use the full face scuba mask but it's really claustrophobic and the hoods are worse as they're tight around the neck. This is the best option.

Do you need to buy a separate hose to connect the gas mask to the barrel? I don't have a clue how this setup is supposed to be physically put together, can you buy just any scuba mask and have the connector work with any gas barrel

Sorry I don't know crap about Masks but I have question. If the airflow is fast enough there is no need for an Exit bag to be used with this mask right ? That would make simplify the setup a lot.

I'm not sure what advice you're after exactly. The method would probably work if you can get over your fear of claustrophobia. If you cannot escape the fear and it's a genuine phobia, then the method is simply not for you. You can set it up using a sort of medical mask attached if that helps indeed, but you may want to test how truly airtight your setup is after your DIY shenanigans before continuing. Also, I'm not sure what scares you about the autopsy: your death is going to be labelled a suicide instantly.

Self-harm scars will not qualify for a Swiss assist.
