I am 22 and make 18 an hour which is basically nothing especially in America. I couldn't get an apprenticeship this year and i dropped out of college and can't afford to go back sadly its 3000 dollars a semester even community college

I'm sorry you're having to experience this situation. $18 an hour is an insult to the dignity of a human being.

It makes me sad, because as a teacher and a person who's lived on this planet for 58 years, to hear that a person of your young age is put into a situation where they contemplate ending their life leaves me feeling hopeless for the coming generation.

I hope something can shift for you. I think you deserve a shot. I wish you the best in whatever you ultimately decide to do.

What are you looking to do? Would you be willing to enter a trade? They make great money and some will even pay for part time schooling in the industry while you're working for them. College and university isn't the be all and end all. Most end up without work, whereas there will always be opportunities in the trades.

I get you, I never understand why the US doesnt do anything about this. For me, at a higher tier University in Canada its around 4500 cad per semester, but I make $19 cad an hour so it is much lower wages than the US. I hope everything works out for you.

I am trying to find a trade apprenticeship but they aren't as easy to find as people make it out to be

Some apprenticeships are much harder to get into. Where are you from?

I know here in Canada (specifically Ontario) there are large construction companies that hire entry level positions (ie flagsmen) and they start around $25/hr and you can easily move up within the company. They will send you for training and licenses as you move up as well.

In America it depends on your state and honestly you don't get 25 an hour here you will at most get 18 an hour as an apprentice

Do you have any personal connections that could get your foot in the door with a company? Sometimes you have to work the shitty position for a while before they'll invest the money into setting you up with an apprenticeship. But it could be worth it if you're patient enough 🤞
