Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I think social media contributes to my depression and I was wondering what the best way is to thoroughly remove it. I was thinking of changing name to make anything still linked to my account (old messages) less accessible and manually removing stuff. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure you can just delete right? I know it takes 30 days on facebook. But yes social media is horrible, something about seeing others happy and in love... a major factor in my depression at least.

I highly recommend deleting all social media. I have deleted all forms of social media and it was a great descision. Seeing others having wonderful fun successful lives and being loved was an un necessary torture. I already want to go I dont need the fact that I'm a lonely unloved looser shoved in my face plus I had no friends on there who cared. The few genuine people in my life contact me elsewhere. I even deleted the email addresses associated with the accounts to make sure it was all gone.

I can relate to hating social media. I've suspended, deleted, and reenabled my accounts. Then I suspended, deleted, and reenabled them all over again. I've learned to just let them stay open and not use them. Even opening Facebook makes me feel avoidant and paranoid. I wish I could just use them normally and set it down but I can't. It also sucks to feel like I don't really have anything to post or talk about. The funny thing is I think this might be everybody's experience but some people have just learned to keep using it. That's why they still post stupid memes all day. I don't know. Some people say the same kind of thing about drinking alcohol. I've learned the hard way over and over that I'm not a person who can just drink normally. Everybody else might be able to but I don't seem to be everybody.
