• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I was thinking...

If you start up a minecraft world, single player, and u are able to enjoy yourself for at least a month spending hours daily... then you may not be depressed.

Since it's a sandbox game, you have to make your own enjoyment. If you can make that enjoyment in minecraft, then you could potentially make that in real life as well if resources were willing.

Wat do u guys think??

Escapism is definitely a coping mechanism.

Okay.

But wat is the anti of escapism?

Is investing time in ur job escapism in the same way Minecraft is?
Wat about a Native American investing time in hunting a Buffalo?

I think before video games people escaped into other activities and that they probably still do but that doesn't guarantee that the distracting activity they escape into will raise their quality of life enough to qualify as enjoyment. Things also reach a point where anything except for being in bed in the dark and asleep is actual torture.

Heh, what an irony. Just recently started another world, played for three days and gave up because bored.

It's always like that: I play for some days and get bored. Wait for some time and repeat.

Not sure about the relation to depression thing though. Maybe you're correct.
