"I rather die than live under your control"

Hi, although I am a new member I'd like to share some thoughts that, maybe, may end up in an interesting discussion.

I had been/am suicidal for a year. My ex-girlfriend was suicidal, and my two best friends and my father have depression in different degrees. So, I belive we can agree that depression is around us all, we only have to name it.

Euthanasia is such a controversial issue. It is still not accepted in most countries due to religious or "moral" reasons.

Countries where some form of euthanasia is legal according to Katy Willis in DNAweekly:
When you read about this you will realize that the people who have the privilege to die with dignity in most of the cases are the terminally ill or the old. I believe that the mentally ill, the people in jail, and anyone who does not want to live anymore can ask for a dignified death.

It does not seem fair to me that many people must blow their brains out to have a chance of ending their pain. It is not fair for the protagonist nor anybody who finds them. They cannot say goodbye to their loved ones face to face because no one would accept it. Is it a "moral" problem or a maturity problem? I belive it is not for us to decide what someone can or cannot do with their own bodies.

When you blow out the facts to anybody they will rather put you in a cage connected to suplemments to keep you "alive". What does alive mean anyway...

Idk, I had to get it out and felt like this was the place.

Please share your opinions, I nor anyone should critizice you, not matter how different.

Thank you for reading.

Add Spain and West Australia; Portugal almost had it. Those are countries where active voluntary euthanasia prevails, while other countries silently have passive involuntary euthanasia as common practice.

I do think that a peaceful exit from this life should be a human right. It's cruel and unfair how people have to resort to painful and risky methods to end their suffering. I hate how we live in a world that makes it really difficult to die as after all there are no disadvantages to being dead. I believe peaceful nonexistence to be ideal, free from a life in which there was never a need for in the first place. Death will come for us one day eventually so I always see it as being preferable to exit at a time of my own choosing rather than it being out of my control.
