Discussion Living for Trivial Things

Does anyone else find themselves managing for longer because of things most of society would find trivial?

I caught myself recently, going "I cant CTB until the new season drops on Outlast Trials." "I cant CTB until the Digital Circus episode." "I cant CTB until [etc]."

It feels trivial, but it is working- Its gotten me back into the habit of taking my medicine, at least. Does it work all the time? No. But ive also been eating. So that helps a lot.

Oh wow, I feel this way, too. I have felt ridiculous because I'm like, "Well, if something that trivial can keep me here, how for Pete's sake could I really be suicidal?". I'm just glad to know someone else gets this.

I do find myself from time to time enjoying smaller things. Like I'm really keen on studying these days. Picking up some cool notebook and pen and just study.

it used to work, but unfortunately my depression is getting to me recently. before i used to be able to buy concert tickets and say "well I gotta keep going bc i really like this band" but yesterday I just decided to stay home instead of going to see the band. I wish I knew what other "trivial" things would keep me going

The reason why I'm pushing back my planned suicide date is because I want to watch the season finale of Severance. Having something there, even if it's not as interesting, always has kept me alive for some weird reason.

That's beautiful honestly. There's nothing trivial about feeling joy. That's why we are alive. It's to feel. We don't need to reach some major milestone to have purpose. If life was all about milestones, that would mean the majority of life is useless except for that couple-day high where you made it before you run towards another goal and run away from your eternal emptiness of feeling no purpose in life.

for me it's all about the little things. i'll put my list of things i'm living for in this comment. i remember being unable to care about any of these things that now bring me joy, it was the darkest time of my life and my heart aches for everyone in this comment section going through the same. at some point it's just about surviving another day or another moment and that's enough. what kept me here during my lowest times was curiosity, i wanted to know if i could ever get better. i'm happy to report i have gotten a bit better.

here's my list of things i live for
-if i died, i would miss so many books, songs, poems, movies and series i have yet to experience, or that have yet to exist
-my little sibling growing
-so many animals to pet and to love
-lots of nature i would never see if i died
-new foods to try
-art to make
-i can help others who are in similar depths bc i really thought i could never get out, and that i was the only one who could ever feel that way. funny thing is, so many people have felt and thought the exact same!

i hope this isn't too hopecore to some of you. i think might have been annoyed af if i read this a year ago when i was mega depressed. i'm not trying to force anyone to feel hope or anything of that sort. i really feel for everyone who is struggling and i know the dark depths can be really really REALLY dark.

Yes, it's not consistent for me so I can't always rely on it, but often I will be in some kind of crisis and only really feel like I can hang on for really small random things. Like waiting for a package, new episodes of a show, or web comic updates, things like that. Sometimes it'll even be so I can finish up leftovers that are hanging around in my fridge haha

Yes, I'm really looking forward for a few things. Tomodachi Life in April. A meet up with an old friend in May. New Ghost in the Shell and A Witch Life in Mongolia anime in July.

Bought myself a switch this month in anticipaton of Tomodachi Life, got some games I've always wanted to try like Unicorn Overlord despite already accepting I won't have the chance to play it. I'm kinda happy for once.

Previously, I genuinely believe it were over. That I will miss all the things I've loved and look forward to. Some things changed and I accepted a lot of my shortcomings and I start to look forward to things again. I still want to ctb, but I'll hold it off for now.

Ooo!! Im also excited for Tomodachi Life- Im also waiting on the silksong dlc, and project zomboid will EVENTUALLY have B42 stable release i believe in it. Thank you all for all the wonderful comments- and i hope yall keep going for what matters to you
