if you scroll down, there's over 50 pics of the "crime" scene, if you can call suicide a crime.

but i must be stupid, because i don't even know how he did it.
or am i overthinking it?

surely, you don't just put any random knot around your neck and kneel down, and then you're dead.
doesn't work like that.

i heard about people lubricating the rope and having to tie the perfect noose.

yet, Chris did it successfully with a fitness band.

and also, why is there blood?

i didn't know there would be blood from a hanging, especially one where it's not full suspension

RIP

Maybe he cut himself prior to hanging? 🤔 perhaps he realized that wasn't a viable method before his hanging attempt, but the way it's spattered makes me question that.

I think it's because most people are more aggressive in their suicide and don't think things through as thoroughly (and add in clouded judgement) as people on this forum. Not calling this community out or anything, but most people don't consider things such as how painful something is, how much time they will have to abort the attempt, or other factors.

Take hanging for example, people on this community will consider; how the rope might be uncomfortable, the right type of rope, the right knot, anchor point, etc.

Meanwhile, people throughout history and to this day will, in the moment, just grab something long (fitness band, cord) and try to hang themselves.

Because of the nature of hanging and the ligature restricting arterial flow, it can cause blood vessels in the nose, mouth and even ears to burst. It could've been that that caused the amount of blood at Chris's death scene. The blood is bright red so it is new blood, and could have easily been mixed with saliva to make it look like more than there actually was. A little bit of saliva goes a long way.

He could've also bit his tongue during the struggle which could obviously cause an injury. Both of these instances could've caused the spatter look on the tub while his body seized after he became unconscious.

Does anyone know what rope thickness is the best thickness? I purchased a 10mm climbing rope which I saw recommended but it seems quite thick. I wonder if I have to order a thinner one. I tried wrapping it around my neck and it doesn't seem to sink in enough.

The problem with a thinner rope is it gets more uncomfortable. I have a 12mm and it worked just fine for me. It is more about getting the placement and angle correct and just trying multiple times until you are able to pass out.

Is his autopsy report public? I imagine that it would explain the logistics of his death in detail.

Is anyone planning on ctb soon? I keep thinking it will be a few days then drag it out. I don't want to live the life available to me but it will be weird not being here anymore plus hanging is kind of scary but necessary.

The main point of these threads appear to be to ease suffering during ctb. Keep that in mind.

I wonder if it would be better than rope. I bought a climbing rope I currently have attached to my closet door but wonder if that might be better.

It's so unfair there's not better instructions online. It sucks this topic is so taboo. At least this forum exists. I was very surprised to have found it.

So he cracked his coconut when the pushed him off the door? I see blood splatter. Also blood on the lanyard. Did it dig into his neck that bad?

Theoretically, yes you can, and various celebs have done so (Kate Spade, Robin Williams etc). They just tie a scarf or belt to a doorknob and push forward until they pass out and eventually die from asphyxiation. The hard part about achieving that is dealing with survival instinct, which will make you feel like pulling back or wiggling out of the noose. But if you're able to avoid that feeling and just keep pushing yourself forward and down, it does work.

Yes, absolutely you can. There is nothing to tie something on to in prison/jail, in a cell, that allows for full suspension hanging. Yet people kill themselves all of the time in incarceration doing exactly as described - they tie shome bedsheets around the top post of their bunk - which is all of about 5ft high, and they simply kneel forward. (I was incarcerated for 3 years a long time ago).

As someone else stated, people in the real world who CTB very rarely put as much thought in to it as these forums. What you have on these forums is fear. Fear to live, and fear to die. It's an ugly place to be. But without question, people obsessing over these things, which I myself am guilty of as well, are generally scared of it not working, ending up worse off, etc. Celebs like Robin Williams, or Chris Cornell, are not worrying about what might happen - they are just doing it and seeing what happens.

I fully agree with your statement, I find myself on these forums a lot and my partner tells me it's damaging but it's like such a tempting place for me

It's what I'll be using. Lot more comfortable than rope, plus they have weight on them. (I use them to work out at home.)

Absolutely couldn't agree more - it brings a sense of comfort in a weird sort of way. I imagine it is similar to how when someone secures SN or similar, it most definitely brings a sense of peace over what is most assuredly anxiety over losing control over a way to escape.
