I hear you.
If my brother texts me i assume there's either an emergency or he needs me to watch his cat while his family goes to his in laws.
I see him + fam on bdays + x mas.
I never got close to his kids because i knew his wife wouldn't let me "in".
My folks... they're better- but i think it's out of duty.
