I went five days without water, a few months ago. Not much really happened. Is there a point point after going a long enough period without water where one will no longer crave it? Asking for a friend :]

I have thought about this as well. Remember how there is the 3,3,3 rule for hiking and stuff - How you can go 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food. I also tried going 5 days without water some years who and nothing much happened either. I think you'd have to make sure your body becomes dehydrated though. There are sometimes stories of people going into deserts with very little water and dying within a few hours. It should be possible and I suspect its a better way to go than many other methods out there.

I think that "3 days without water" is definitely bullshit.

If you're in a hot place and being physically active, then perhaps. If not, then you probably need longer. I wonder how long though. 2 weeks maybe? I somehow like how you will have to reaffirm your choice to yourself and find peace while you slowly become weaker. It seems less like causing yourself harm and more like making a choice that is right for yourself. I have definitely considered this as well - which was also why I went 5 days without water.

That makes sense. It is currently winter. I think that I could probably do better going a few weeks feeling a little uncomfortable than going only about 3 days, while being very uncomfortable due to the heat.

Dehydration as a CBT method? Hell no. Too long and too painful

Hm, but there's water in food, no? Even if very little of it. Or did you not eat as well?

It is not without the proper preparations and controlled environments to mitigate the effects of discomfort and pain. People who do VSED (Voluntarily Stop Eating and Drinking) are oftenly done in a controlled environment, under sedation, and oftenly with a medical professional monitoring the state of the patient until the patient passes.

well i already did long time ago 4 days none water none food, not confortable at all, i give up on fourth day the thirst was insuportable, also others sintoms more tolerable like headtache, pain in articulations, some insomnia. for what i read so far about death can occur in average of 14 days, needs some insane motivation and dont gonna be a peaceful death at all, some agonizing death

Yes, this method wouldn't work without stopping eating as well.

Back in January, I went 3 days without eating or drinking. I continued not eating for 3 more days. I wasn't actively trying to CTB, but wouldn't have minded if it had happened.

I had covid and lived with people that were at risk, so I mainly stayed in my room. I was also really depressed and found food and water repulsive.

I stopped fasting because of anxiety, some people were getting concerned and I didn't want to pass out at work .

I dunno. My first thought, without researching it, is that it's too slow and too painful.
