Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Is a gun the only sure way to CTB?

I am beginning to think that a gun is the only real way to CTB successfully. either that or jump from a very high building.. all the other ways seem to have huge failure rates. I need to buy a shotgun soon, time is running out

Also, I cannot stress it enough. You have only one attempt, one shot, so make it count. No half-assing or pussying out at the last moment, because that is what results in many failed attempts and can even become a vegetable as a result of it. The minimum requirements are using a powerful enough caliber (no 22lr, 17hmr, or any piss poor round) and make sure you either destroy the brainstem or destroy enough of the brain to cause severe blood loss and shock that results in death. Whatever you do, never aim under the chin or other bad angles as that is what results in a lot of failed attempts and permanent disfigurement.

I've read that you're statistically far more likely to fail with a gunshot to the chest rather than the head in general though. Dying successfully is a bitch.
Man I imagine it totally sucks for the people who knew the dead guy whose face was used to replace the other guy's face. Imagine seeing the face of the person you loved on the street but it's not him cause he's dead.

I'm sorry you lost your uncle like that. I gotta say it's pretty clear the man wasn't gonna accept life as an answer. How did his passing affect you and your family? If you don't mind me asking.
Edit: Oh yeah and case in point; gunshot to the chest is definitely not a highly successful method. One can get results but by probability you'll likely just end up in the hospital all embarrassed and in pain.
A shotgun to the head is the most lethal according to their data. However, I highly doubt their stats include N.
Personally, I feel like my fear/survival instinct would more likely result in me fucking up with a shotgun than with N. I've never used a gun before so, in my mind, it seems like there are more things that can go wrong.
all this worry about ending up in hospital or having to living the rest of life as a vegetable.. simple solution.. I'd just go someplace far far far away from civilization. go deep into the mountains and I'd do it there. pretty hard to end up in hospital when I'm in a cave somewhere miles away from any humans. bonus point is that animals will eat my corpse and nobody will have to be traumatized from seeing it.

Full suspension also works quite well too as long as you have a rope and support that will support your weight and you can ensure you won't be found in time.
i have to both agree and disagree with you here. the site is pretty clearly pro-choice, run by someone who is in recovery. they state on their home page:
Lost All Hope has no angle. The site is non-profit. It has no religious affiliation. It has no political stand point on the whys and wherefores, pros and cons, of suicide or euthanasia. It offers no advice, and has no bulletin boards, chat or forums (although does link to some). It is here as an impartial resource, to help inform you, and make whatever choice is right for you. I hope you find it of use.
while this person does urge suicidal people to be sure of their decision ("Be sure, be really, really sure, that there is no other way to get over the pain you are experiencing, other than suicide" and "Follow the three day rule. If you are ready to commit suicide, like really, really ready, wait three days, or better still a week, until you actually go through with it") and provides various help resources they do seem to understand that some are beyond help. also, someone who is fundamentally pro life wouldn't provide detailed info on methods.
but i do take issue with their "most lethal methods" page; it is from a very limited study looking at a 3 year period in a specific location and then rated by "291 lay persons and 10 forensic pathologists". i guess i'm just not willing to put my trust in a study in which 97% of it's sources are lay persons and that at this point is nearly 25 years old.
A gun is a pretty dumb way to check out. I may be too shook to go the way of the bullet myself, but I have very strong individualist/self-improvement beliefs. So being a prisoner in my own body isn't my idea of a good time. Can't even wipe my own ass in that situation.

He was recently diagnosed with cancer and only given like a year to live so he didn't want to waste away so he killed himself instead. I was young but from what I remember my family understood for the most part.
That's fallacious reasoning. Specifically, you have employed the Appeal to Motive fallacy. Also, note that they cite the source of the statistics, so the data was not compiled by them.
Please note that this is a criticism of your argument and not you as a person. My intention is to add more data and intellectual rigour to the conversation.

How is the age of the study relevant for the kind of data that was compiled? The only method's stats that I think would be affected by age of the study is carbon monoxide poisoning assuming that it was accomplished through running a car in an enclosed space. The reason for that is that modern cars do not emit enough CO to make that method viable.
Yes, the study is limited, but it's far better than speculation and unsourced data which is mostly what I see in this forum. Actual data on suicide seems to be very limited and what little there is tends to be anecdotal, which is not a surprise given the controversial nature of suicide. I'm curious, what information do you rate more highly and plan to use in your decision making?
