Discussion I would like to leave some art behind, can you help me?

Hello,
I've been here before (not this acc) and it's the only place I can think of that might be able to help me.

I had an idea to create some media that is about suicide, a film or game perhaps.
The world will probably never understand how we feel but I think I'd done right, we might be able to give them a glimpse into the true hopelessness of the situations people find themselves in that leads them to find this place.

I think a film is unrealistic, it cannot be collaboratively with such distance and my health and the relative lack of support for such ideas in my country (Australia) would make it nearly impossible but I wondered if anyone would have any advice or interest in making a game, something simple, visual novel, RPG maker, I don't know yet.

I have a plot, nothing fleshed out but I know a story I want to tell. A story with the purpose of making the player understand why someone who is ostensibly "healthy" might want to die and the powerlessness that comes with fighting the medical system for the right to do it.

I want people to feel hope going into it, advertise it deceptively (with appropriate warnings of course), like this is a story they can impact positively.
Only for them to find their efforts are pointless.
Display multiple options but don't allow access to them. Have the game begin to gradually simulate the pointlessness of the "options" presented to folks like me.

Stuff like that

I've got a lot more ideas but I have personal issues with sharing such things. I'm only writing this now because I've got the benz calming me down.

If the idea is stupid and will never work, tell me.

Alternatively if it sounds interesting or you have some ideas or advice or you'd be interested to be a part of a project like this, also tell me.

It's just ideas at this point, I know that. But I don't think I'm the only one here who would like to make something that can show a peek into the suffering of those making up this forum and how sometimes suicide is the only option.

I think the main theme you will want to play into when working with something like this is the unfairness of reality. The cold, unfeeling, inanimate hands of the clock continue to tick for all of us no matter if we are suffering to prolong it or enjoying something to bring about its end.

Unlike conventional media, you can have everything going for you, you can be completely right and deserving of happiness like anybody else, and you will still lose in life sometimes. There are just no guarantees, everything is subject to change and nothing is truly safe. There is no predictable plot or predictable twists, it is truly a slot machine with no cogs, a casino with no rules, this world.
Aside from highlighting this fact which contributes greatly to the suffering of many with circumstances beyond their control, I will throw in some of my more personal thoughts and suggest that this be abstract.
Not too abstract to where not even you can interpret it on a foundational level, but also not too direct to where it will feel like a targeted commercial-type of thing.

You will likely find what is the best medium and direction for your work, and I certainly wish you all the best luck and inspiration with it!

I really like that idea. I have had plans of making a game with that theme myself, years ago. If you can make art (guessing you can, by your username), I'd be down to exploring that as I'm a videogame programmer. Would be happy to contribute with code for the game.

I love reading posts like these, people are so creative with so much to share. No matter who you choose or even if you decide to go solo, I hope your game gets made. I would play it.

sounds like a really good idea, not sure I would be much help, but if you ever wanted to brainstorm ideas about the story or whatever I would be glad to help. Always use to enjoy things like writing and creating game concepts.

Don't you think 'writing' or even 'literature' is the go-to art for the subject? Everything 'art' is anyway…
