Story I must try for a good ending

I was trudging in the snow this morning thinking about how miserable i am when i had a kind of epiphany. there is one cause in the world that needs young people who don't value life: the defence of Ukraine. I can spend the remainder of my life as a decent person, a member of the international legion, in an environment where neither the future nor the past matters. and with any luck, i'll go out like that british kid who got slimed by a drone on his first mission. that should help to heap more shame upon western governments, whose own citizens outshine by their bravery.

there are some caveats, notably the fact that i am technically disabled and devoid of military experience. i've already been refused by my national military for health reasons. but the ukrainian forces are so desperate now that they will recruit practically anyone, and i have a few more years of good health left before i become a liability on the field. i also perform much better under pressure. i will obviously need to give up everything i'm doing and train hard in the months before i go, but these things are much easier with the right motivation (which i now have).

this vision has strangely made me feel a lot better haha. i've already submitted my application. in the event that i am rejected, i will ctb as planned. thank you all!

They wage wars and consider it perfectly normal and ethical to send young people to their own devices. Many young people, without the desire to die, are sent to the randomness of war and violent death. But society and the state accept it. All the ethical discourse of those who oppose assisted suicide falls apart. The hypocritical debate will never be about the individual, but only about what interests them.
