  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Taking a certain dose everyday etc., I know this dumb, just thought I'd ask. I can't get benzos.

I don't think the effect lasts long enough, and if you were to drink it often enough to maintain the effects, I'd be concerned about the addiction potential. Of course the addiction potential is also a thing with benzos, and benzo addiction is no fun. So I really wouldn't recommend either of those to treat anxiety tbh, but I can't make recommendations anyway because I'm not a doctor. But like, if it was me, I wouldn't use either of those. I'd take Benadryl (makes you sleep, makes you a bit more relaxed), Ibuprofen (helps with emotional pain too, not just physical pain), and I'd learn drug-free anxiety management skills (acceptance and commitment therapy is really good. There are apps). And if you can get antidepressants or another type of anxiety med, maybe try that.

I know that's what a lot of people do.

But actually, no. Alcohol will muddle your thoughts but it will not take away your anxiety. The only thing that you will achieve, is develop a drinking habit.

Some people back then, tried to cure PSTD with hypnosis, or even electroshock therapy, it didn't work because they successfully forgot about what caused their problems but trauma remains and they couldn't remember why.

Absolutely not. Even if you didn't become addicted, the long term consequences is awful.

I take the edge off with thc. There's also shrooms, lsd, ayahuasca, and ketamine

I would drink alcohol every day if I could. But alcohol would make fat and then I would truly feel like a piece of shit and since I am very conscious about my body, I would no longer go out of the house, until the bills would pile up and then I would get a really good reason to kill myself. More broadly speaking, it would create an addiction and in the longer term, it would make every problem of yours even worse. Not a good idea.

Yes. I have been treated with alcohol for about 7 months. It is definitely better than SSRIs.

Better for sure.

Taking the 'edge off ' is why a lot of people drink alcohol. In moderation it's okay. A few beers a day is ok I guess. It's drinking a 6 pack everyday or a 12 pack where it becomes a problem. People can drink for decades heavy and maintain in theory productive lives. It sucks you can't get benzos I relate. Seroquel can help with sleep if you are having those issues. There's Amitrytiline that I guess can help. Idk I got a couple anti-anxiety meds that aren't benzos. They don't seem to work. A few beers can make me feel diverted from the anxiety. I've had it get excessive and that's when it begins to suck and the anxiety and hangovers feel pretty fucking bad.

Alcohol is also known for causing anxiety. It only has the potential to reduce anxiety while drinking. Whenever not drinking anxiety would likely be worse.

Even kf one could be buzzed or drunk all the time it still wouldnt work well cause of tolerance build up.

It's a depressant...surely you know about "crying into your pint"
and good old "pooor me, pour me another one"
if there's one thing I am grateful for it's not getting hooked on the drink
Not only is it a horrible death, but your paying the taxman to be miserable too
