If I had a gun I would have pulled the trigger over a year ago, without hesitation.

It takes a lot of nerve, and if you mess up, you're going to be messed up for the rest of your life. But it works more often than not, just not for the faint of hearted. (If you have the time and patience there are better methods).

Same here. I would have killed myself already if I had a gun. It seems to be instantaneous and overall a decent suicide method

Fear of failure

But I'm going to do it if I have to practice dry firing 6 hours straight per day 1000's of times per day. Enough. My victory will be complete as I will reach non-existence forever

Okay? Good for you I guess? I don't know if it ever occurred to you that there is a psychological barrier that most need to overcome in order to get the job done.

Pulling the trigger sounds easy on paper but it's likely much harder to do irl as a result of SI. To add insult to injury, some people also need to worry about how the way they ctb impacts their family and loved ones. This is one of the main downsides of more violent methods, like shooting yourself. A lot of people don't want to risk their loved ones (or anyone, for that matter) coming across the violent aftermath of their suicide. Finding a dead body can already be traumatic enough, but coming across a messy gory scene is significantly worse. Along with that, there is still a small chance of messing up and ending up horrifically disfigured and disabled. That one video that someone posted on here a while back, showing the aftermath of a failed suicide attempt via gun, really highlights this. His face was completely blown off.

I'd imagine its SI, the act of loading the gun and pulling the trigger. Also fear of survival, and being left with damage to your face or brain.

I agree with @EvisceratedJester ... I have a gun but don't want to go that way because of the effect it would have on my loved ones. They will be left to mourn my death, with the added trauma of finding a gory mess. Also, even if you decided to go do it in your car or somewhere like that to be found by the police, there is the chance you will survive and be left with an even more miserable life.
