I don't understand how someone can celebrate living beyond 50 , i really don't.

I honestly think life is worth living if you accomplished what you wanted in the end ie having that amazing career, being chosen by the person you really wanted to be with you and having amazing memories.

I hate it when people tell me rejection is a "blessing". Name me 1 example of someone being happy they didn't get what they wanted ? There is none and people want me to believe i should look at the rejection I have experienced whether it's with men or the jobs I really wanted as a "blessing"

The disappointments we go through in life absolutely no one of it is worth it. When it comes to life all I know is I am tired of it all. I would rather die at 30 than live at 50 with a cycle of disappoints and setbacks.

I agree. People that enjoy living to old age have healthy brains is the only thing I can come up

I never wanted to live to old age, even before I knew I was going to CTB. It just sounded lonely and unpleasant. Now I know how painful and sufferable life is and I know that I can't do this anymore, especially not another 50 years. I would live forever for my family if I could, they're the only reason I'm still here. But I can't live any longer, it has to end.

All I can and will say is that I am 68 and will be 69 pretty soon and please do not age discriminate against me, as I have lots of issues like everyone, but I still find some rays of sunshine and love in this world.

its the kids and grandkids. similar to SI, its a natural instinct to love them and want to watch them grow and succeed (in my case not succeed and be a useless neet)

A lot of respect for those who (for one reason or another) can't stand another minute in this planet.

That being said, if human beings could die at, for example, around the ages of 98 or 106 swiftly and painlessly while remaing young looking and healthy as a 25 year old, then I'd be down for another 50 years in this planet.

Then again, since that's not the case, can anybody here tell me where the bus stop is and the time at which the bus passes?

I'm 55 but don't want to get any older as I know it's all downhill from here with disease, decrepitness and dementia. I see what my parents are going thru. It terrifies me. Plus I suffer with severe depression. I want to die now but to chicken shit to try.

In the same light that many here could not fathom getting older, many people could not fathom not getting older. Some people do genuinely enjoy life and find meaning and value in the difficult things. For some, the good in life outweighs the bad. Everyone's experience on earth is different, and the belief that old age is a gift for some is just as valid to those people as the belief that old age is a curse to us. What's invalid is telling someone else that their belief on the matter (in their own personal sense) is incorrect.

I agree, why do we want to suffer in pain until we die old and get the exact same thing? Life sucks.

I'm almost 55 and wish I was already gone 20 years ago.

Mom is 81, and she says she hates being old and will be glad when it's over for her.

50? I barely made it to 40 😂.

I'm 45 now and don't even wish this age upon my worst enemy.

Walter, do you mind sharing what joys you have found getting older?
Absolutely would love to share.

1) Just had a 3-week vacation in Hawai'i and the sights and all the lovely blooming flowers to see and smell. The warm sunshine making my chronic pain feel less of an issues

2) Each and every day I find something new, no matter what it is, that can make me either think, feel or wonder, other words feel alive.

3) Like all the family members here, yes everything has issues, heavens I have so many, BUT we can draw strength from each other, we can gain knowledge or insight from each other and this list can go on and on.

4) Waking up in the morning and making a pot of green tea and some morning sweets, opening my blinds and seeing the wonders of nature

5) When I am traveling for work, being able to experience different places, people, cultures, foods, customs, this aspect is one of my REALLY huge joys.

6) Being able to help people on here as it makes me feel good to bring a smile to someone's face who may need a smile and/or hug.

7) At work, helping new hires, no matter their age group, to expand their knowledge, have them be part of a huge project and see it to its fruition and be able to observe how they not only feel about the project, BUT themselves and their expanding belief in themselves.

These are just a few of what brings me joy each and every day. YES, I have 24/7 chronic pain and a host of mental health issues, however the good always outweighs the not so good, always.
