I might've fractured my ankle yesterday. I tripped like a clumsy dumbass and idk if it's gonna heal by itself. the funny thing is this has happened to me before and it feels pretty much the same. I can still walk with a limp but my range of motion is so limited from the pain. I really don't feel like seeking medical attention. mainly because of the hassle and costs but also because im embarrassed tbh. I have a lot of feelings regarding doctors. I tried to go to the hospital for some help behind my parents' backs last year and the bill screwed me over. they found out and it ended up being the worst week in my entire life (might make a separate post about it). not to mention im seeing different specialists month after month for other problems. I try to avoid clinics these days so I think I'll just shut up about my ankle and hope it gets better. im broke as hell and im not putting myself in crutches for the hundredth time. im just worried because ive read that if it heals wrong you can't walk correctly again. I don't think any bones are misaligned though

I'm assuming you are in the U.S.? Don't you just love our medical system! Yeah, The doctors themselves are good. At least the ones I've seen over the years, but then everything else about the system absolutely fucks you over. Unless you have good insurance, and even then, they will do absolutely everything in their power to pay as little as they can. Fucking bananas that we have to deal with this bullshit, just because we were born into it. I didnt ask for this, you didnt ask for this, yet here we are. And not a damn thing we can do about it.

I also worry that if you don't get it fixed now, it will "heal" in such a way that it will be far worse in the future. Good luck.

im sorry to hear that wow, I always felt like mental health services are set up to be complete bs. the system isn't actually designed to people, just trap them and make as much profit off the vulnerable as possible

i've been saying that getting hospitalized encourages people to ctb more bc of the bill. i can't afford a failed attempt bc i know my parents would rather gut me like a fish than pay for a second hospital bill. they haven't even paid off the last one. the only motivation for me not ctbing is that i needed to make sure i succeed the next time or i'll be in a worse spot. i don't think anyone will get as angry at american healthcare until they're in a situation where they can't afford to seek treatment. you're encouraged to get worse or die if you can't afford it. it's terrible.

Oh man. My youngest broke his clavicle when he fell off a horse. Of all the things my kids got into when they were younger that was, by far, the most brutal pain I ever saw any of them in. I'm sorry that happened to you.

Thank you, I've been trying to look forward and not dwell as much as possible, I hope your youngest is doing well now!

He is! Thank you! As someone with chronic pain issues from injuries (before I became suicidal I lived life 10 toes down and got myself kinda banged up. 😬😉) I know how hard that is sometimes. The ONLY reason I am not in a wheelchair is I refuse to stop moving. Hang in there!
