  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

i spend all my day in front of a screen 8hours at work, the same at home. sadly i lost all my friends due depression. quit contact to my family too. i think major part why i use the internet is so much is that its my only remaining form of socialising except saying hi and goodbye to my collagues. dont know what to do. what things could i do instead at looking the whole time at a screen?

I'm in front of the internet all day every day. I tried to break the addiction, but there's literally nothing else I could do with my time. I can't work.

Anyway, you break it by turning it off and finding other things to do. Read a book, do art, work out, etc. Personally, nothing but the internet holds any interest for me.

It's OK. I know a 70 year old guy who lives in the internet. He's very conservative, reliable, kind, loves his grand kids. He complains his youngest son is useless as he spends his time in internet. Guy who maintains Oldman's comps told me the guy always on pornsites, gambling, whore hire, etc. I think it's OK.

Fight fire with fire. There are many programs and smartphone apps to restrict your internet time and/or certain sites.

You may already have these. Many smartphones have settings to control these. Check something like Settings -> Digital Well-being. Also many routers (the device that connects you to the internet) can be made to shut off at certain times of day. Usually under "Parental Settings".

You have to find something else to do that you enjoy. It can't be something you make yourself do, you have to actually want to do it. I garden, at least in the warm months. In the winter I guess I'll be back in front of the pc too, but I hope to try and get out to walk.

I avoid reading YouTube comments and avoid the recommendations tab. That's how I weaned out of my YouTube addiction.

I love going for walks. I could go for walks in nature forever.

I try to focus on studies. I set up a timer whenever I go browsing media, like this site. Having a clock before me helps. Having a mirror before me would probably help too. I'd look at myself and say: "You! Yes, you! I see what you're doing." Some say it helps to regain self-awareness.
