How short can a rope be from the anchor point?

Hey... I have a tree in back year which isn't horribly tall but is taller than me, I'd probably need a small stool to tie the rope on the branch for example (WIll either make a new thread with pics or continue this one) Which sucks about handing is that I'm really tall so if I 5'8 this probably wouldve been perfect no doubt but I'm second guessing. As long as my head could fit in the hole am I good for a hanging? even if its short from the branch?

What I'd be more worried about is the strength of the branch. And if there's anybody who could find me before a half an hour.

Oh yeah I was planning to ask that when I get pictures probably tomorrow. I don't have to worry about anyone finding me; I've got that problem already sorted out
