In Stan's guide beta blockers are listed as a luxury item but now PPeH says you need them and I've seen a couple users here say they're more or less essential, unless I'm reading wrong. I don't have beta blockers but I have everything else. I have a bunch of Clonazepam (Klonopin) too. My main concern with this method is high anxiety so will Klonopin deal with that or is beta blocker the only way to have less anxiety with this method? I can't get beta blockers. Dr won't give them to me coz I don't meet criteria or whatever.

Klonopin is an anti-anxiety med, so yes it could work for that concern.

If and when I attempt suicide with SN I wont ba bothering with any other meds. I just don't see why they're necessary.

Are the beta blockers used to decrease heart rate? If so, they aren't necessary from my understanding.

I was considering not bothering with beta blockers originally, but I personally just don't like the thought of being too focused on my heart thumping away.

I managed to get hold of some Propranolol (online pharmacy). It's supposed to help with losing consciousness quicker too from what I've read, so I feel better now I have some to use, but anything that can help with your anxiety can only be a good thing, I guess? I have some Lorazepam for that too.

Soooo many variables. I tend to overthink everything though.

I agree with the above comment - that the beta blocker is to decrease heart rate/blood pressure. I'm prescribed them bc I have high blood pressure. I know propranolol is also used to treat anxiety but I also suffer from extreme anxiety and I can tell you it does squat for it. My xanax is the only thing that helps.

Thanks! I often have high heart rate like 100-120 bpm but my specialist considers this as mild tachycardia lol so said they're too hesitant to prescribe beta blockers for me (I have some other health issues too). I don't even notice it the vast majority of the time. I only notice when my heart is beating hard not fast and I find that a little uncomfortable but not anxiety inducing. What does induce my anxiety is nausea and dizziness. So in a way SN for me is one of the worst ways to die but it has the 'no brain damage' thing going for it.

Well nausea and dizziness are anxiety triggers for me so 🤷🏼‍♀️ everyone has different concerns I guess.

Yeah I don't really care about fast heart rate as I mentioned above I'm often above 100 anyway. My concern is anxiety from nausea and dizziness 😥

Atenolol is a slow acting β-blocker, so it would be useless taken immediately before the consumption of SN.

A β-blocker is by no means necessary. It may provide a bit of comfort, but plays no part in the effectiveness of the SN method.

The beta blocker is supposed to also help speed up the time to unconsciousness.

I do not agree that is a luxury item. It potentiates the SN and makes you pass out faster.

totally agree unless you have steel nerves, passing out faster is essential...or perhaps not essential as for the goal but for a better experience

SN will increase heartrate but it's not a stimulant. It shouldn't be any worse than if you went on a jog or something.
