Help How does PMing/chatting work

I just PMd a mod asking to edit a message using the "Start chat" button and after I entered the message it disappeared and I can't find it anywhere. Is the private chat function temporary? Should I have created a conversation instead?

Find a post you wrote and hit the report button on it. Then, in the report reason box, type in what you want done to it. It may not be obliged, tho, jsyk.

if it's within 30 or so minutes, you can hit the edit button on it too tho~ :)
