I get paranoid about this every once in a while (not because of any bad experiences)
as for food I am not that worried because I can take it apart and look at it and smell it etc.
and because in my mind sometimes although this may not be true I think that if I reheat it or freeze it, it is then safe to eat (especially if I get a bad feeling although weren't any signs prior to either reheating or freezing or even just leaving it as leftovers)
but with drinks it's harder unless it's bottled so then if it has been tampered with you won't hear a pop or a snap depending on the kind of cap you have on your bottle or if you're using a can
or unless you picked it up yourself and never took it out of your sight
I was doing fine for a while as I mostly have had bottled drinks as of recent and also pour my own drinks and then stare at them if I sit them down for a couple of seconds to do something else
but today I ordered a drink to go with what I was eating and I wasn't there for the order and when it got to me someone I dislike for many reasons hovered over it too long and then I didn't want to drink it anymore
but I took one sip after I took off the lid (the typical look of a fast food beverage) and shook and sifted through the ice with my straw
but the worry was still there and it was so bad that I decided to rinse my mouth with mouthwash and just leave the drink on my desk
but the main reason why I am asking about this is because when this happens I feel guilty about wasting (I will just dump it out and I feel guilty when: I didn't pay for the item, I asked for the item, I dump the item, and when I was really looking forward to whatever item it was, or when I get a large serving and then I get the bad feeling and waste a lot) food/drink
there werent any signs with this drink but I still have the bad feeling
I will try not to dump it out and just wait and see if the feeling goes away or I will force myself to drink it
