You can think that this is maybe not so serious, but I've always fantasized about joining a cult. Most people arrogantly say they could resist the brainwashing, but I'd be the perfect victim. It's an escape from my life, and I get to forget about being myself once I'm in the cult. Parents and friends won't ever find me, and I escape all my problems. Obviously just to replace them with new ones, but the real me will be long gone.

I thought I was the only one who thought about that. Maybe look for story's of survivors and go from there? I guess it depends on what type of cult you're looking for but I'm sure Google or social media may be a way to look into it.

I understand where you're coming from, however I feel losing oneself and one's sense of reality is much more terrifying than death. By joining a cult, there's a great chance you'll have to depart from your values, which if that's what you want, alright, maybe then that's for you. Idk, I'm simply giving my personal opinion, but in the end, everything is up to you.

It really depends on what cult you wanna join in. They usually have their own business, structure,, and ideology- so what's your role in it? Of course, everybody want to become a member but who outsider is that trustworthy or useful? I think it's terrible to keep things in secret or straight out lie and brainwash people, yet anyone can study their own occult knowledge and build some sort of life style around it.

i'd love this tbh. i found out recently that thanks to my mental health 'issues' (i.e. DID), i am much more susceptible to brainwashing and hypnosis.
i think i'd very much enjoy having someone take all of my worries away, turning me into a different person entirely, i mean, that last part happens on a daily basis anyway lol, so not much would change in that regard.

Anybody can be brainwashed or manipulated, there has to be some tolerance to that. Don't buy junk you don't need.

There's one down the street from my house that the neighborhood is fighting at city council tomorrow. I'm against them but theoretically I could hook you up?

They're into guns, Trump, and exploiting victims of sexual trafficking.

Modern cults are no more than elevated scams that predate on the wealthy and stupid. If you have a lot of cash to blow, then you'll be welcome in any cult.

If you want money and people to admire you, you could always just start your own or at least find someone wildly charismatic enough to work as the leader while you control everything. Maybe not as easy as it sounds though.

I feel I am very susceptible to cults too but I actually fear them instead. There are so many horror stories of people from cults who have been victimized that I can't see why anyone would willingly enter one even when knowing the risks. Cults are also very controlling and strict in case you didn't even know. If I joined Scientology for example I wouldn't even be able to watch South Park. And I love South Park.

I don't have much knowledge about cults, but I did hear some things.
Usually cults center around charismatic people that claim to be special and be able to save others from some kind of doom and gloom.
So from this you could search for like end of the world posts. Cult documentaries should have some details on how cults recruit people, probably best source of info anyway

I feel like you won't find the kind of cult you seek this way. I feel like these relatively open cults (being able to find a cult online is open enough) would be very poorly fitted scams.

I strongly advise against it, but each their own. Problem with being brainwashed is that you'll do things you can never forgive yourself. Hurt people you can't make amends for. Join a religion, they're all basically cults, same with military. Any organization designed to mold you into what or how they want.

Matter of fact, Christianity was started by a cult. You have the leader who claimed to be the messiah who had a prostitute. Oddly, same name as mom, hmmm. Wound up clashing with another cult & the government.

Scientology is the only one I know of that's both widespread and generally will take anyone who walks in. I could be wrong. Jehovah's witness is pretty fuck too.

Following for tips about a fun cult that people actually enjoy. Fairly certain that doesn't exist though.

We could start our own cult?

Dudeism is pretty cool but more of a mock religion than anything.

Sometimes I wonder if this is just a (natural) desire to be part of a community- we're social animals (supposedly) after all but we live such isolated lives these days.

Do you know of any cults near you? I'd imagine you just contact them to say you're interested in their beliefs/ lifestyle. I'd be very carefulif I were you though. I think plenty of people end up regretting it. Would you truly like living under stricter rules? Whatever you decide, I think you should fully research any group you're interested in.

Joining any one you come across is easy enough. Once you've surrendered all your possessions, moved to live in their property (possibly in another city, or even country) know only other members and are spending 18-19 hours daily in endless raising of funds, cleaning, cooking and attending lectures, leaving the group … not so much.

Christianity did not start quite like you said. The leader did not actually claim to be the Messiah but God, and He definitely did not have a prostitute called Mary. Geez, what books have you been reading? (He did clash with the religious authorities as He did not like the extreme way they ruled over people and took advantage of them. The opposite of what must people thought He was like.

Not really. In today's world, it is far from being a sheep to be a person of faith. The opposite as most people don't so could be argued the sheep are those who just go to atheism, which is the easy option really

I had a similar thought myself once. There was this one time I almost joined a potential tree hugger cult in Michigan I believe. Just had the overwhelming feeling of wanting to get away from everyone who was hurting me. I was pretty close to doing so, even looked up bus and train tickets. But in the end I chickened out…just like I do with my ctb plans :D

Honestly it was probably for the best because most cults will look for any opportunity to SA, and lord knows I can't handle anything like that anymore.

ב''ה, pursuing therapy or psychiatric services in USA will generally steer you towards one; at that point you can be satisfied or confront actual Torah on your own time, but without the heritage there's only 7 rules to worry about.
