Greetings, friends. As mentioned in the title, I have attempted to hang myself several times but it somehow isn't working. I'll explain my setup so you all can try to understand what's going on.

My anchor point is a sturdy wooden closet rod. The anchor knot being used is either a bowline knot or the snuggle hitch knot (depending on the attempt). The noose knot I use is either a simple noose knot or a slip knot (depending on the attempt). The rope I use is either 5/32 inch paracord or 3/8 inch nylon double-braided marine dock line depending on the attempt, each of them can hold 550 lbs and each one is thrown over a closet door.

I've recently been attempting full hanging. The main issue that I'm having is that, even when the noose starts right at the top of the door, it doesn't stay put enough to actually lift me up, let alone cause me to pass out. In fact, the rope (not the noose part but the long part) likes to slide down through the top of the door. I'm able to get down on the ground on both of my feet with the noose still tightly on. The noose can be pretty tight but never enough to cause me to pass out.


I want to know if any of you have any idea on what I might be doing wrong so that I can do it right and finally break these chains. Thank you for your time and attention.

Apparently hanging is actually one of the simpler and more accessible methods, hence why it's been the most popular suicide method worldwide. There are methods that are much harder to pull off than hanging.

I'm not following. Your feet reach the floor? Seems like you need higher anchor point. But I'm not sure why the rope is moving? Is it stretching? I don't think that's what you mean. I had to put full weight on anchor not first to get it to fully tighten before adjusting noose location, but I don't think that's what you mean

Are you tightening it around your neck just enough to leave no gap between the neck and rope before stepping off the stool?

It's a difficult method... usually it's best to just do full suspension

I'm tightening it the most I can.
Alright, that's good. I am a bit confused though. is the rope slipping from the anchor point, untightening or something? I'm abit confused as to how is it moving down, can you explain a bit more?

Yeah, I'd say it's slipping from the anchor point. Here's how I'd describe it: the noose starts right at the top of the door. By the time I step down the stool, it's tight but not tight enough to lift me or make me pass out. When I then inevitably untighten it to the point that it's the exact same as it was before I put it around my neck, it's further down the door. I'm also tightening the anchor point knot the most that I can and using the most rope I can until the noose is right at the top of the door.

I'm also tightening the anchor point knot the most that I can and using the most rope I can until the noose is right at the top of the door.
Have you tried using a stopper knot or arbor knot on the loose end (opposite of the noose end) of your anchor point's knot? it's good for stopping the extra length from being pulled through the knot.

I have not used any stopper knots but I now think it might be a good idea to use some. I'll use a stopper knot on my next attempt and I'll tell you guys if it doesn't work. Wish me great luck.

Yes and no I think? It's really hard to get it done painlessly.
