I read it to my daughter recently. The Ogre has the ability to change people into animals. Depressed and abused people start going to him to be changed, stay in his castle and grounds and are able to find peace. A 9 year old princess travels to him to be changed into a white bird as she longs to be free. However when she gets there he is to depressed over the death of his wife to change anyone else and decides to starve himself to death so he can join her. He almost succeeds but being a kids book it ultimately has a nice ending. Very poignant though.

I have never heard of this story, but it sounds very interesting. If only everyone could have a happy ending like the ogre, but most of us won't.

Or if only a friendly ogre could turn us into an animal.

What was the moral or takeaway of the story?
