I turned 41 recently & my husband played me this song. He informed me it was about me because the guy in it is fucked up, suicidal, theatrical, has nightmares & wakes up screaming, holds things in, wears a smile to fool people & gives them know-it-all grins. I don't know where I'm going with this. I guess I just want you to wish me a happy birthday because I don't have any real friends except for my partner. Please don't judge me for liking a Sarah McLachlan song, I'm old & increasingly sentimental.
