Would you be able to kill yourself with any of the guns they sell at Bass Pro Shop in Canada? They are mostly hunting rifles. I know you need to go through a process and training course and approval from the RCMP. But if that was all done is that a viable option? They don't sell handguns.

These guns are a viable option. This is mostly because they have a higher caliber than a handgun. Im not sure about the process over there but yes hunting rifles are a viable option.

Are you Canadian? Do you have any experience with hunting rifles or shot guns that you could advise on best ones for CTB?

I've also considered getting a gun licenses just to get a legal gun. The gun course with the RCMP is around 12 hours long (usually broken up between two days) and then they need to do a criminal record check, but other than that the process is apparently fairly easy. I never got around to it because I got busy with other stuff, you'll need to put aside at least a month or two to get all your paper work in order and apply, and then wait to see their response.

As for which gun, any real gun will work. If possible, get a shotgun instead of a rifle. Shotguns are also legal in Canada and I remember reading here that they are more reliable, I believe the reasoning was because the spread shot can help reduce the chance of you missing the brain stem.
