If I tell people I'm suicidal and that I don't feel happy some of them like to pull the "but don't you like your hobbies? Don't they make you even a little happy?" It just feels like they're trying to convince me I don't actually feel that way. It feels so invalidating and infuriating and I just never know how to respond.

I'm guessing that when well intentioned people make remarks like that they're probably feeling just the same as you are … they just never know how to respond.
"I want to kill myself" is an unusual one to drop into a conversation. I can totally get that the imediate, off the top of the head comment will likely seem inadequate

if someone tells me that i would say. "is my stupid meaningless hobby worth going through the worst unrelenting worst pain torture and suffering ? I think not, what hobby is worth that for you ?"

Funny because I do this to myself... Using hobbies etc as an escape from my own thoughts. Hard to tell sometimes if doing these things makes me happy or just distracts me from my deamons? Maybe it's the same thing?

Yeah honestly that makes sense. I can see myself in that situation too, saying that because I'm unsure. I guess people try their best but sometimes it comes off as trying to gaslight my pain

I'm so sorry they make you feel this way. It's infuriating when someone tries to downplay your emotions or experiences. Your feelings are absolutely valid and should never be made less of ❤️

It's incredibly frustrating, I totally get where you're coming from. I feel like people often care more about stopping me from ending it all then they do about helping me fix the problems that make me want to end it all in the first place. I feel like I'm a tool to the people around me and the people around me just want to stop me from breaking their tool but they don't actually care about me just the value they can extract. So they end up giving dumb and condescending advice like say telling me to think of all the video games all miss out on as if that voids my suffering your situation sounds similar to mine

It's best to avoid talking about these things with people.

Normal brain people can never understand the mental pain involved when one is suicidal. They mean well, so it's not worth getting upset over.
