One thing I know about hip-hop, is that we all go through phases. I went through the boom-bap, old school rap phase, then the soundcloud phase, then (briefly) the trap phase, the abstract hip-hop phase, etcetera. It's a relief the people in this thread have great taste in rap (except for Canibus). I'm currently obsessed with instrumental hip-hop, like LIL UGLY MANE, and Knxwledge or Madlib.

King Gordy, D12 and everybody from this click, Esham, and tons more Detroit rappers
Jedi Mind Tricks, Vinnie Paz, Jus Allah; from Philly
Bushwick Bill, Geto Boys, Wu Tang Clan, Slum Village, and a ton more.

The overarching theme would probably be horrorcore, I was always attracted to artistic king of horror. I regret never checking out much from MF Doom, rip, I'm sure I would be a fan of his lyrical abilities. Interesting his cause of death remains undisclosed and there are speculations of suicide.
