Story Experiences in psychiatric hospitals?

Have you been admitted to a mental health center?

Some mental health centers treat their patients poorly. They have even received complaints. On the other hand, there are centers that treat internees better.

yes, the staff were very nice to me but the hospital itself is a fluorescent white prison with nothing to do and no one to talk to (because they put suicidal people in with the severely nonfunctional here, for some reason.)

anyways i dont think theyre worth going to under any situation unless you are severely schizophrenic and need intensive treatment.

It varies a lot, based on the facility, the unit within the facility, your mental state at the time, whether you're voluntary or involuntary, the staff who happen to be working, the other patients who happen to be there with you... my experiences have ranged from passable (mildly uncomfortable and mindnumbing but mixed in with cool connections with others in recovery) to traumatic.
